چکیده

UNLABELLED The Mycobacterium tuberculosis Proteome Comparison Database (MTB-PCDB) is an online database providing integrated access to proteome sequence comparison data for five strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (H37Rv, H37Ra, CDC 1551, F11 and KZN 1435) sequenced completely so far. MTB-PCDB currently hosts 40252 protein sequence comparison data obtained through inter-strain proteome comparison of five different strains of MTB. 2373 proteins were found to be identical in all 5 strains using MTB H(37)Rv as reference strain. To enable wide use of this data, MTB-PCDB provides a set of tools for searching, browsing, analyzing and downloading the data. By bringing together, M. tuberculosis proteome comparison among virulent & avirulent strains and also drug susceptible & drug resistance strains MTB-PCDB provides a unique discovery platform for comparative proteomics among these strains which may give insights into the discovery & development of TB drugs, vaccines and biomarkers. AVAILABILITY The database is available for free at http://www.bicjbtdrc-mgims.in/MTB-PCDB/

CHOPIN: a web resource for the structural and functional proteome of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Tuberculosis kills more than a million people annually and presents increasingly high levels of resistance against current first line drugs. Structural information about Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) proteins is a valuable asset for the development of novel drugs and for understanding the biology of the bacterium; however, only about 10% of the ∼4000 proteins have had their structures determ...

Recent Advances in Defining the Immunoproteome of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Immunity conferred by antigen-specific CD4+ T cells is critical for controlling infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), the causative agent of tuberculosis. However, despite research that spans more than a century, many of the characteristics of protective immune responses to Mtb remain elusive. Defining the repertoire of antigenic targets is central to understanding the immune respons...

Toward Understanding the Essence of Post-Translational Modifications for the Mycobacterium tuberculosis Immunoproteome

CD4(+) T cells are prominent effector cells in controlling Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection but may also contribute to immunopathology. Studies probing the CD4(+) T cell response from individuals latently infected with Mtb or patients with active tuberculosis using either small or proteome-wide antigen screens so far revealed a multi-antigenic, yet mostly invariable repertoire of immu...

Identification of novel Mycobacterium tuberculosis CD4 T-cell antigens via high throughput proteome screening.

Elicitation of CD4 IFN-gamma T cell responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) is a rational vaccine strategy to prevent clinical tuberculosis. Diagnosis of MTB infection is based on T-cell immune memory to MTB antigens. The MTB proteome contains over four thousand open reading frames (ORFs). We conducted a pilot antigen identification study using 164 MTB proteins and MTB-specific T-cells ex...

Protein profiling and analysis of drug sensitive and multidrug resistant isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a deadly infectious disease despite all the efforts to reduce its incidence. Spread of multidrug resistant TB has seriously undermined the efforts to control the disease globally. In this study protein expression profile of MDR and sensitive isolates of MTB were analyzed and compared in order to identify proteins, which could be used in prevention, diagno...
